Meta Pixel Helper is now Meta Ads Data Advisor: how to check your pixel with it

Updated October 23, 2026

If you went looking for Meta Pixel Helper and found an extension called Meta Ads Data Advisor, it's the same tool. Meta renamed it and added setup features. Here's how to use it to check a pixel, how to read what it shows, and where it stops being useful.

What changed

  • Meta Pixel Helper is now called Meta Ads Data Advisor. If you already had Pixel Helper installed, it updates to Data Advisor on its own.
  • The checking part still works: it shows which pixels and events fire on the page you're on.
  • New: setup flows that connect your site to Meta and fix problems with your approval. These need a Facebook login, admin access to the ad account and admin access to your store platform.
  • Checking a pixel doesn't need a login.

How to install it

  • Chrome: find Meta Ads Data Advisor in the Chrome Web Store, click Add to Chrome, then Add extension.
  • Edge: find it in Edge Add-ons, click Get, then Add extension.
  • Make sure the icon shows in the toolbar, then reload any tabs that were already open.

How to check your pixel

  • Turn off your ad blocker for your store. Ad blockers stop the pixel from loading, and the extension shows nothing.
  • Open your store. The number on the extension icon is how many pixel events fired. No badge means no Meta Pixel was found.
  • Click the icon to open the side panel and see each pixel and its events.
  • Do what a customer does: open a product, add it to the cart, start checkout. ViewContent, AddToCart and InitiateCheckout should each show up.
  • Turn on Show all events to keep events from every page in the session, so you can follow the whole path.

Reading the statuses

Each pixel shows as Active, Warning or Inactive. Each event shows as Active, Inactive, Warning, Error or Auto-detected. A pixel can show a warning while its events still send, so open the event to see why. The problems it flags include:

  • Missing parameters: the event fired without some of the data it should carry.
  • Duplicate events: the same event sent more than once.
  • Blocked parameters and compliance issues.
  • Broken events.

What it can't show you

  • It only runs in Chrome and Edge on a computer. There's no Firefox, Safari or phone version.
  • It only sees the pages you open while it's on. If you don't reach checkout, you learn nothing about checkout.
  • Conversions API events go from your server to Meta and never pass through the browser, so they don't appear. Use the Test events tab in Events Manager for those.
  • Custom conversions and some advanced event types may not appear even when they're sent.
  • Events triggered by button clicks may not be detected reliably.
  • It only covers Meta. GA4, TikTok and Google Ads tags need their own tools.

Checking without the extension

  • Events Manager → your dataset → Test events. Enter your site URL and browse the site to see browser events arrive. Server events only show up there when they are sent with the test code. You need access to the ad account.
  • Pixel Audit runs the check from our servers: it opens your store, goes through home, product, cart and checkout, and reports what Meta and seven other tags sent. The problem list is free.

Check product, cart and checkout pages in one run, without installing anything.

Questions

Where did Meta Pixel Helper go?
It was renamed Meta Ads Data Advisor. Existing installs update automatically, and you can still use it to check the pixel and events on a page.
Does Meta Ads Data Advisor work in Firefox or Safari?
No. Meta offers it for Chrome and Edge only.
Why does it say no pixel was found?
Check that your ad blocker is off and reload the page. If there's still no badge, the pixel isn't loading on that page: it may not be installed, or a cookie banner may be holding it until the visitor accepts.
Is Meta Ads Data Advisor free?
Yes. It's a free extension from Meta.
